Ayana, a member of the Elements Team since 2008, was raised in Fairbanks and loves it here! She decided, at the age of six that she was going to be a “Beauty Shop Hair Doer” when she grew up. She loved the idea that she could help people feel good about themselves based on what they saw in the mirror and the experience they had in the chair.
After attending attending Austin’s Beauty College in Clarksville, TN in 2004, she worked in salons in both Tennessee and Florida before coming home for good in 2008. Continuing education is important to Ayana; she has attended classes and events nationally and internationally. In cosmetology school she was told to “Never stop learning” and that once you think you know it all, you close your mind to learning. This industry is evolving and it presents many opportunities for creativity and growth.
“I’m so thankful to have found a beautiful salon family all those years ago. At the end of every shift, I say a little prayer of gratitude for all the guests who have trusted me with their hair and stories; the ones who I have seen for years and the ones who are new to our salon and my chair. I am where I am because of them and hope to continue for many years. And lastly – Beauty is as Beauty Does.”
